CENTURION PRIZES

So I arrived home Friday, and there was a ticket saying I had a package to collect at the post office, collect by 5pm. I get the ticket at 5.10pm. Bugger. As this week is holidays for Centurion prep (and family time) I run down to the post Office and grab the prizes from Alpha Hobbies (will hyperlink this later, I'm email-posting from my iPhone :) ).

Excellent.
Now, to put in the big box with the other prizes...
Crap, they don't fit!
The box above is the prize pool in all its overflowing glory. (The rulebook is for scale, I'm not giving that away!) I hope to lay it all out either this week or at Cent to show off :) There is sooo much stuff. More door prizes than players at the moment!

Prizes have come from :
Forgeworld (major and door prizes)
Alpha Hobbies (major prizes and discount cards inc donated major prize)
A Gentleman's Ones (thanks b. He donated 5 door prizes from what I got from his banner comp)
My personal collection of stuff (about 10 door prizes, mainly resin bases etc)
Lurking Horror (local gamer who donated 4 2nd ed blisters)
The Capricorn Model House (hobby door prizes & airbrush)
Millennium Comics (standard dice)

There is about 1 spot left to make it even numbers (30 ppl)! Come on lads!

CENTURION - full disclosure

In order to try and get a level of full disclosure (and some feedback), the following are the score sheets for Cent

The overall paint score is TO Paint + Peer Paint Total (total 40).
The overall sports score is Peer Score Total (total 40).
The overall Battle Score is:
Total KP % x 10 + Total Obj% x 10 + Total Quarters% x 10 + VP% x 10 (total 40)

Peer Paint (Choose 1) Out of 5 per round
>50% unpainted models (0)
Some unpainted models (1)
Models painted (3 colour), but not based (2)
Models painted (3 colour) and based (3)
Models painted very well and based (4)
Models painted so well I may have to steal them at the end of the tournament next available opportunity (5)

TO Paint Sheet (tickbox) Out of 15
1. Less than half of the models painted - 0
2. More than half models painted – +3
3. All models painted & based– +3
4. Drybrushed, Highlighted, Inked, Shaded – +3
5. Squad Markings – +3
6. Bonus TO “awesome marks” - +3

Peer Sports (tickbox) Out of 8 per round
1. Did your opponent have an army list to show you and the appropriate codex for their army?
2. Measurements and dice rolls are all made clearly and accurately (no rubber rulers or intentionally hidden rolls). Your opponent also used only provided dice.
3. Game was played in a polite and respectful manner (game/army questions were answered, not every move or army rule made by an opponent was questioned etc).
4. Game was played in a brisk and orderly fashion. The game was kept moving with good time for the armies in question.
5. Your opponent remained positive if they were losing, and/or were not belittling if they were winning. Your opponent either won or lost in good grace.
6. Any discussion or disagreements were sorted out in a respectful, considerate manner. Please note, asking a referee’s opinion is perfectly acceptable.
7. You had a great game and thoroughly enjoyed yourself.
8. You would actively search out and want to play this person again if you bumped into them at your local FLGS.

Thoughts from those competing / not competing?

Warbuggys Part 2 - Racing Slicks

I am actually still in the hospital
when I took this shot
I recently cut myself fairly badly hobbying, so first and foremost I just want to say:
Be careful of snapped hobby blades. Mine shot out and cut my hand, which you can see to the left here.

Anyway, on lighter news, I have a WIP of new tyres for the buggies!

I got a piece of pipe, 20mm diameter for use as wheels.
In cutting said pipe with a hobby knife I did the damage. I have since bought a pipe cutter.

Anyway, long story short... Warbuggies and comparison shots.
All I have to do is build hub caps and a few rivets and I am done.

CENTURION: The challenges, thats right, 's'.

As many of you are away, there is a Friday Night Str10 Challenge / free play where Kirby and I are playing each other, among other matchups and grudges.

What you dont know is that there will be the "standard" Rockhampton 40k Tourney Saturday night challenge as well ... (we aren't the Beef Capital of Australia for nothing ya know).

It's even called "The Challenge"

Keep $36.00 out for dinner girls.
This is the menu from the Criterion Hotel where we are doing dinner, and I just booked for the Saturday night as was always the plan. This is also a motel, so you can stay onsite and roll off to bed afterwards.
Anything less than the Popular Rump will be laughed off the stage.

As for me, suffice to say I'm a "serious beef eater"...

If you were thinking of making a last minute dash to Centurion, we still have a few spots, email me to retsef@gmail.com.

Deffkotpa Warbuggy conversion + opinions wanted

So due to 100 things *cough* baby, Centurion, valentines *cough* I am current broke :(
The upshot of which is that the 5 more warbuggies I need for my Pink Bits Battle I will have to build the vehicular mobility features manually.
By this I mean, Wheels and Tracks.

So, I am asking for some opinions on what these look like, and which is better.

I have built a set of tracks and 2 wheels. The tracks are MUCH, much more work than the wheels, but if the consensus is the tracks are better, well, I'll need to suck it up I suppose.

Been busy... painting.

See, when I see a "I've been busy" post usually it can be summed up buy the attached photo...
HOWEVER!
Loyal viewers, this is not the case. For the epic Centurion battle with Pink Bits himself I have to put together a list, and make it good, and probably paint it... So the list was designed, and finalised (todayish).

*note: This is also going to be used in a local comp tourney. They decided to do some Math-based comp, which sums up to: no 3x same squad outside troops, max 2 AV14 vehicles, max 25% points in each FOC, min 40% in troops - to get 10/10 Comp.

Resiny goodness

Well as part of Centurion I got to spend a whole lot of other people's money on things I usually wouldnt...

First of all, RESIN OBJECTIVE MARKERS for Centurion. These will all get painted prior to the event.

See below the jumpy thingy for the FW goodies too :)
